With our 3D Kitchen Planner and in-store support from our seasoned kitchen specialist, Fiona, we make sure you achieve an ideal kitchen layout for optimal functionality and style. Whether you’re starting fresh or making updates, read on to learn why our planner is the ultimate tool for designing your perfect kitchen and how our insights can help you make the best choices every step of the way.

What is a 3D Kitchen Planner?

A 3D kitchen planner is a reliable, user-friendly tool for designing your ideal kitchen. This online tool allows you to create a virtual #D model of your kitchen, customised to your exact dimensions. Simply enter your kitchen’s measurements (find out how to do that here) and explore our range of kitchen cabinets, placing units in your layout until you achieve your desired design.

Along with cabinetry, planners also offer other design elements such as benchtops, flooring material, and even wall paint colour to allow users to create a kitchen as close as possible to the real thing. And, because it’s done in 3D, it also enables users to see the kitchen from all angles. This allows users to appreciate the space fully and determine whether the layout utilises the space to the maximum potential.

Benefits of Using our 3D Kitchen Planner

It’s a Free Kitchen Planning Tool

The biggest benefit of our 3D kitchen planner is that it is free, something you won’t get everywhere. Large companies like Ikea and Bunnings both charge a fee for their kitchen design service, but not us! We believe in excellent customer service and pride ourselves on delivering true value for money in every aspect of our business operations.

Ikea charges $99 for one of their kitchen specialists to plan a kitchen in-store with customers, while Bunning charges $49 for their in-store design service. By visiting Ross’s Discount Home Centre, you’ll not only save $49-$99 on the design service fees, but I guarantee you’ll save a lot more by purchasing your kitchen with us too!

You can Visualise Your Kitchen

It’s hard to design a kitchen without seeing how it looks all together—to see not only how the colours work together but how it functions as well. There are so many elements to designing a successful kitchen beyond the door and benchtop design. And, even choosing the door and benchtop design can be difficult without a reference point.

By designing your kitchen with our 3D kitchen planner, you can see how every element looks and works together. Can you see what layout works in your space, what base cabinet and wall cabinet configuration offers the most storage and practicality, how the kitchen work triangle concept works in your design, and you can even see how your flooring looks with the cabinets and the cabinets look with the benchtop? You can visualise your entire kitchen without spending a cent or picking up a single tool!

Avoiding Regretful Mistakes

When it comes to designing a kitchen, what might look perfect in our minds can sometimes fall flat when brought to life. Maybe that island bench placement is less practical than expected, or perhaps the cabinet arrangement doesn’t flow as well as you thought. This is exactly where our 3D kitchen planner shines—it helps you avoid costly, regretful mistakes by letting you “see” your kitchen before making any big commitments.

In my years of working with customers, I’ve seen how easily plans change once they get a clear visual. With our 3D kitchen planner, you can experiment with different layouts, cabinet placements, and even styles, making adjustments until everything feels just right. This tool offers peace of mind, allowing you to lock in your choices only when you’re 100% satisfied. By the time you’re ready to order your cabinets and benchtop, you’ll have confidence that your design truly works. There’s no worse feeling than realising your kitchen could’ve been better after installation begins—or worse, after it’s finished. Our kitchen planner prevents those “if only I’d known” moments, saving you from costly fixes down the line.

Changes Made Easy

One of the greatest advantages of using a 3D kitchen planner is the flexibility it offers. When you’re designing your kitchen on a digital platform, no decision is final. If you’re experimenting with layouts, colours, or even cabinet placements and you realise something isn’t working, it takes just a few clicks to make changes. Unlike the costly and time-consuming adjustments needed for a physical kitchen renovation, our kitchen planner allows you to refine every detail in real time without any commitment.

In my experience, I’ve seen how empowering this can be for customers. Many start with a vision in mind, but as they explore different combinations in our planner, they discover new ideas and end up with a layout that’s even better than they initially imagined. And if you ever need assistance, Fiona, our in-store kitchen expert, is ready to guide you through the process. Prefer working from home? No problem—you can plan your kitchen comfortably from your living room and fine-tune every element until it’s perfect.

Gaining Confidence in Your Design

Kitchen renovations are a significant investment, with Australians spending an average of $30,000 on kitchen upgrades according to recent reports. It’s only natural to want to feel completely confident in your design choices before committing. That’s where our 3D kitchen planner shines. By allowing you to see your kitchen from every angle, it gives you a clear, realistic view of the end result.

Imagine being able to “walk through” your kitchen and experience how it will look and feel. This immersive view not only lets you confirm that everything is just as you envisioned but also helps you identify any changes you might want to make to achieve the perfect balance of functionality and style. With this level of clarity, you can proceed with your renovation with confidence, knowing that every detail has been thoughtfully planned and reviewed.

Using our 3D kitchen planner means you’re in full control of your project. Take the time you need, explore all your options, and design a kitchen you’ll love for years to come.

Effortless and Time-Saving

The thought of spending months—sometimes over a year—just planning a kitchen renovation is enough to discourage anyone. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not spend 11 months planning. With our intuitive 3D kitchen planner, you can jumpstart the design process in minutes. Our drag-and-drop interface allows you to easily move cabinets, appliances, and other features into place, giving you a realistic feel of your space right from the start.

For those who prefer to take their time and refine each detail, our planner allows you to save your work and return as often as needed. There’s no rush; you can fine-tune every inch of your kitchen until it meets your vision. So whether you’re in a hurry or prefer a slow, thoughtful approach, our planner makes it simple, convenient, and stress-free. Start designing today and experience just how easy it can be to plan your kitchen with confidence and clarity.

Step 1: Launch the Planner

The first step is to launch our planner, which you can do by clicking this link.

Step 2: Design the Room

3D kitchen design Step 1

The next step is to recreate your kitchen space in the 3D Kitchen Planner. Begin by clicking on the “Room” option in the left-hand menu bar. Using your kitchen plan or measurements, set up your room’s size by entering its width, height, and depth. From here, you can configure the room shape, add architectural features such as walls and columns, and place doors, windows, and utilities.

With your space mapped out, simply drag and drop items from the left panel to position them in your room as desired. Once the layout is complete, you’re ready to start adding products to bring your kitchen vision to life.

Step: 3: Select Kitchen Products

3D kitchen design Step 2

With your room set up, it’s time to start designing your kitchen layout. Click on the “Catalogue” option in the left-hand menu bar to begin adding products. Here, you’ll find a range of essential kitchen components, including kitchen base cabinets, wall cabinets, pantry cabinets, and optional panels and fillers to help you create a functional and stylish layout. The 3D Kitchen Planner automatically handles exact measurements, so once your room dimensions are set, you can drag and drop items into place without additional measuring.

Experiment with different configurations until you’re happy with the setup. Once your primary layout is complete, add extra details like kitchenware, appliances, furnishings, and plants to bring your design to life. For more layout inspiration, explore my earlier articles, What Is Your Kitchen Layout Preference? and How to Choose the Right Kitchen Layout Shape.

Remember, perfecting the layout is key to a functional and visually appealing kitchen, so take your time and enjoy the creative process!

Step 4: Choose your Materials

3D kitchen design Step 3

With your kitchen layout complete, it’s time to add the finishing touches by selecting your materials. Click on the “Materials” option in the left-hand menu bar to start customising. Here, you can choose from a range of options for cabinet doors and handles, cabinet base finishes, and benchtop materials to bring your design vision to life.

You can also personalise additional design elements, such as wall colours and flooring, to create a cohesive look throughout your kitchen. This step allows you to get creative and finalise the details, ensuring your 3D kitchen design reflects your style and preferences.

Step 5: Save and Order

3D kitchen design Step 3

With your kitchen design complete, it’s time to save your work and prepare for ordering. Click the floppy disc icon located at the bottom of the right navigation pane to save your design. This allows you to revisit your plan later and make any edits as needed. You can also email a copy to yourself for easy reference.

Best of all, your saved design includes all the selected products, so when you’re ready, you can process an order directly from your design. Simply review the items in your layout and submit the order for a seamless, hassle-free shopping experience.
