About this Shaving Cabinets & Mirrors warranty

This Warranty Schedule applies specifically to Alpine KB Shaving Cabinets, Wall Mirrors, and Mirror Doors purchased in Australia for domestic use. This schedule must be read in conjunction with the Alpine KB General Warranty Terms & Conditions, which govern all claims, exclusions, labour limits (1 year maximum for labour), and statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Alpine KB warrants that shaving cabinet and mirror components are free from defects in materials and workmanship from the original date of purchase for the periods outlined below:

Note: Glass breakages, chips, cracks, or desilvering occurring after installation are excluded.

In addition to the general exclusions set out in the General Terms, this warranty does not cover:

  • Post-Installation Glass Breakage: Any glass breakages, chips, cracks, or fractures occurring after installation are strictly excluded from this warranty. All mirror surfaces and doors must be thoroughly inspected prior to mounting. Installation constitutes acceptance of the glass’s visual and physical condition.
  • Mirror Edge Blackening & Desilvering: Black edges or desilvering along mirror borders caused by trapped moisture, standing water on lower door/mirror edges, or using ammonia/alcohol-based glass cleaners. (Note: While Alpine KB shaving cabinet bodies are 100% waterproof PVC, mirror silvering on glass doors must still be protected from pooling moisture).
  • Installation Distortion & Out-of-Square Mounting: Binding doors, misaligned mirror gaps, or hinge tension caused by twisting or screwing the cabinet frame out of square during wall mounting or recessing into stud work.
  • Overloading & Impact Damage: Hinge sag, door drop, or shelf failure resulting from placing excessive weight on open mirror doors or inside internal storage compartments.

Proper care is essential to protect silver mirror backings, frame finishes, and hinge hardware. Failure to follow these guidelines may void your warranty.

Routine Cleaning

  • Mirror Glass: Clean mirror surfaces using a soft microfiber cloth slightly dampened with warm water. Buff dry immediately with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to prevent water drops from settling along the bottom or bevelled edges.
  • Frames & PVC Cabinet Body: Wipe internal shelves, mirror frames, and external cabinet walls with a warm, damp cloth and mild liquid dishwashing soap, then dry thoroughly.

Protecting Mirror Edges

  • Always dry the lower edges of mirror doors, pencil/bevel edges, and framed mirror borders immediately after cleaning or showering. Moisture trapped along glass seams causes silver backing oxidation (black edge creep).
  • Ensure your bathroom exhaust fan is running during and after showers to eliminate steam buildup around mirror borders.

Prohibited Products & Actions (Will Void Warranty)

Prohibited Products & Actions
No Harsh Chemical Glass Cleaners: Never use glass cleaners containing ammonia, alcohol, solvents, or methylated spirits. These chemicals attack the protective backing coat of the mirror and cause rapid desilvering.
No Abrasive Scrubbers: Avoid steel wool, scouring pads, paper towels with rough fibres, or cream cleansers (e.g., Jif, Gumption) on glass, frame finishes, or cabinet surfaces.
Do Not Spray Directly: Never spray cleaning liquid directly onto the mirror face, as run-off pools at the bottom edge and seeps behind the glass or frame. Always spray onto your microfiber cloth first.
