It’s good practice to allow a minimum space of 1000 mm – 900 mm between an island and the cabinets – including the benchtop overhang. This should provide sufficient space to move your fridge and appliances into the kitchen and allow two people to move about freely.
It is, however, a good idea to check the dimensions of your fridge to ensure there is enough clearance for it to be positioned once the kitchen is installed.
