How to Choose a Cooktop

There are many factors to consider when shopping for cooktops in Perth. Firstly there’s the style of cooktop; then there’s the size and number of burners, and lastly, the design. The cost also plays a role in the selection process. The key to choosing a cooktop is to find one that is big enough for your needs but not too big for your kitchen, while also offering great value for money.

Types of Cooktops

Thankfully, there aren’t too many types of cooktops, so the selection process isn’t too complicated. There are old-fashion electric coil cooktops, electric smooth-top cooktops, gas cooktops, and induction cooktops.

If you want instant heat, then choose from the range of gas and induction cooktops. If you’re more comfortable with an electric stove, then choose from the electric coil and electric smooth-top cooktops. The former choices are a better option for home cooks, chefs and epicures.

Cooktop Size

As you can see from our range alone, cooktops come in a variety of sizes. While size is important in terms of your kitchen design and benchtop space, it is also important in terms of a cooktop’s practicality and functionality.

The smaller the size, the fewer burners a cooktop will comprise. If you’re cooking for a family, then you will need a cooktop that has at least four burners, if not more. The burner needs to facilitate your cooking needs, above all else.

Bear in mind that if you opt for a large cooktop, then you will also need to get a rangehood of the same size.

Cooktop Design

The type of cooktop you select will play a significant role in its design. For example, a gas cooktop has to have trivets to support pots and pans above a flame. Electric and induction cooktops, on the other hand, are more minimalist in design; they can provide a flat surface, and often without knobs or dials.
